What it does
Paste a link to a public video and GripVid reads what the platform serves, lists the formats that genuinely exist for that video, and hands you the file. That is the whole product.
Most platforms deliver video and audio as separate streams. Saved naively, that is how you end up with a silent file. We merge them server-side before the download starts, which is why every file arrives with its sound.
What it does not do
It cannot reach private accounts, friends-only posts, or anything behind a login — the platform refuses those to us exactly as it would to any logged-out visitor. It cannot break DRM. It cannot recover a Story that has already expired.
There are no pop-ups, no decoy download buttons, and no redirects. One button downloads, and it is the one labelled as such.
Who it is for
Creators archiving their own uploads, people keeping a copy of something before it disappears, and anyone who wants a video available offline. What you do with a file afterwards is your responsibility — our copyright policy sets out where the line is.
