How Instagram Stories work
Stories are the one Instagram format with a deadline. Twenty-four hours after posting, a Story is removed from Instagram's servers, and at that point no tool can recover it — not this one, not any other, regardless of what they advertise. Everything about downloading a Story is therefore a race, and the practical difficulty is usually getting a usable link before the clock runs out.

While the Story is playing, the address bar reads
instagram.com/stories/username/1234…. That trailing number identifies the single frame on screen — copy the whole thing. -

Paste it before it expires
Download it the same day. A Story link that has passed its twenty-four hours returns nothing, because there is no longer a file behind it.

Each Story frame is its own item. An account that posted eight frames today needs eight links, one per frame — there is no single URL covering the whole sequence.
