How Twitch clips work
A Twitch clip is a short excerpt — up to sixty seconds — that a viewer cut from a live stream or a VOD. Clips are stored as their own small files with their own permanent URLs, which makes them by far the easiest thing on Twitch to download. They also outlive their source: a clip usually survives even after the broadcast it came from has been deleted.

Take it from the address bar, or use the clip's own share button. Do not use the channel URL — that points at the live stream, not the clip.

Clips cap at sixty seconds by design. For a full broadcast you want the VOD downloader instead, which handles multi-hour files.
Common questions
Twitch clips questions
Usually yes. Clips are stored separately from the broadcast, so they commonly outlive the VOD they were cut from. If the streamer deleted the clip itself, it is gone.
If the original broadcast was 60fps and the clip was captured at full quality, yes — the frame rate of the source is preserved rather than being halved.
Clip quality is inherited from the stream at the moment it was captured. If the streamer was broadcasting at 720p, or the viewer clipped from a lower-quality playback, that is the ceiling.
A clip is a sixty-second excerpt; a VOD is the entire recorded broadcast, often several hours and several gigabytes. They use different URLs and are handled on different pages here.
